Overview:

The Project Publicity Meeting took place on 15 May 2014 in Burgas, in the Compass Hall of Hotel Bulgaria. The Meeting was organized by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology – Lead partner of the project. The event attracted around 60 participants; a Turkish delegation of 10 members was also present. Among the participants there were representatives of local authorities of both sides of the cross-border region, representatives of research institutions, local media, and members of environmental institutions.

Special guests to the event were Mr. Mesut Gider, Vice - Consul at the Turkish Consulate in Burgas and Mr. Evgeni Vrabchev – Deputy Governor of Dsitrict Burgas Region.

The main objectives, planned activities and expected results were presented by the Coordinator of the project (Dr. Emilia Georgieva). More details on the tasks related to numerical modeling of the transport of air pollutants in the region were given by Prof. Dimiter Syrakov of NIMH. The importance and specifity of the joint field activities on collecting precipitation samples were outlined by Dr. Iker Oruç and Dr. Krum Velchev. The guests were acquainted also with more general information on activities performed in the organizations of both partners, presented respectively by Dr. Georgi Kortchev (Director of NIMH) and Mr. Hasan Efe (Secretary General of the Kirklareli Chamber of Agriculture) (agenda)
